Samsung Leads Global DRAM Market as SK Hynix Gains Share
Samsung Electronics retained the top spot in global DRAM revenue for Q3, while rival SK hynix increased its market share significantly.
According to data from Counterpoint Research released Thursday, Samsung accounted for 38 percent of global dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) revenue in the July-to-September period. This figure represents a slight decline from its previous share of 39 percent.
SK hynix regained lost ground, with its market share rising three percentage points to reach 29 percent. U.S.-based Micron Technology ranked third with an 21 percent share, followed by China’s CXMT at 9 percent.
The research firm projected that CXMT's position could weaken further as Korean manufacturers begin supplying premium fourth-generation high bandwidth memory chips in the fourth quarter. This shift is expected to pressure Chinese competitors amid intensifying competition for advanced memory products.
