SUV Tyre Failure Kills Three Chennai College Students

Three students died and four were hospitalized after an SUV crashed near Madurantakam while returning to Chennai from Puducherry.

Three college students died and four others were injured after a tyre on their SUV burst near Madurantakam on the Chennai-Tiruchi National Highway early Saturday. The group attended a college in Chennai and was returning to the city from Puducherry.

Police said a rear tyre failed while the SUV was moving along the highway. The driver lost control, and the vehicle veered across the road before crashing. All seven people in the SUV were hurt.

Police and rescue teams transported the occupants to government hospitals in Chengalpet and Madurantakam. Raj Prasad, Duteran and Deepak died while receiving treatment.

Ramprasad and Lokeswaran were admitted to SRM Hospital. Harikrishnan and Aneeswaran were treated at Chengalpet Government Hospital. Police said all four survivors remained under medical care.

The collision disrupted traffic until responders removed the SUV and reopened the affected lanes. Madurantakam police registered a case and began investigating the tyre failure and circumstances of the crash.
