We’re delighted to welcome East Midlands Freeport as the Headline Partner for this year’s awards. As the UK’s only inland freeport, East Midlands Freeport brings together local authorities, businesses, universities and development partners to drive investment, innovation and job creation across the region.
A key part of its ambition is ensuring that local people benefit from the opportunities created through economic growth. Working closely with employers, education providers and training organisations, East Midlands Freeport supports skills development, apprenticeships and pathways into employment — helping people of all ages access the opportunities being created across the East Midlands.
Its support for this year’s Apprenticeship Awards reflects a shared commitment to celebrating the people and organisations helping to develop the region’s future workforce.
The awards would not be possible without the support of East Midlands Freeport and our wider network of sponsors, who continue to invest in and celebrate the achievements of apprentices across the region. We’re pleased to share some of their thoughts and insights below, alongside more about the organisations supporting this year’s awards.
Gemma Fildes, HR Director at Vaillant and Glow-worm stated: ‘We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Training Provider / Programme category in the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire awards this year. Championing high quality training in the region is key to delivering a future workforce especially in the heating industry. We’re proud to be part of the awards celebrating apprenticeships and individuals who show dedication, talent and an ambition to build a successful career. This is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices to feel recognised as part of a wider community.”
Julie Richards OBE, Chesterfield College Group Principal and CEO stated “As a key provider of quality apprenticeships across the region, we are delighted to sponsor these awards. We recognise the vital part apprenticeships play in helping organisations flourish and in giving the next generation a chance to thrive. Good luck to all of the deserving finalists on the night!”
The campaign has attracted a strong range of nominations from across Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire with a particularly high standard of entries this year. Each submission was carefully assessed by our panel of judges against strict criteria to determine this year’s finalists and, ultimately, the winners. The rigorous judging process highlighted the impressive achievements, dedication and impact demonstrated by this year’s nominees.
Their expertise and dedication have been invaluable in selecting a group of finalists that truly represent the passion, talent, and ambition driving apprenticeships across the region.
We extend our sincere thanks to our judging panel: Jean Mountain, Business Owner and Entrepreneur - The Dressing Room Fardad Amirsaeedi, Business & Enterprise Manager - Economic Growth & Regeneration - Nottinghamshire County Council Martin Rigley OBE, Director - Gordian Consulting Dr Peter Dewhurst, Dr - Chair, Business Peak District
Winners will be announced at a live awards ceremony on Thursday, October 1 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham. Guests will arrive from 6:45pm for a welcome drink sponsored by the Crowne Plaza, ahead of an evening of networking, dinner, and award presentations.
